What is Value Stream Mapping?

Value-stream mapping is a lean-management method for analyzing the current state and designing a future state for the series of events that take a product or service from its beginning through to the customer with reduced lean wastes as compared to current map. A value stream focuses on areas of a firm that add value to a product or service, whereas a value chain refers to all of the activities within a company.

How to perform Value Stream Mapping?

Value Stream Maps can be easily created using a professional VSM diagram software like Visual Paradigm Online:

  1. Create a new Value Stream Mapping.
  2. The stencil provides a rich set of VSM diagram symbols you need in forming your value stream map. Just drag and drop the symbols you need to your value stream map and connect them with connector lines.
  3. When you finished, you can save the diagram (File > Save as) to our cloud repository for future access. You can also export your work into image (JPG, PNG, PDF, SVG, etc) and share it with your friends or co-workers.
