Why Six Thinking Hats?

The purpose of the six thinking hats is: to simplify the mind so that the thinker can only do one thing at a time. The thinker does not need to consider emotion, logic, information, hope and creativity at the same time; he can deal with them separately.

The six thinking hats is like making some rules for the "thinking game". Give thinkers the freedom to change the way they think. If someone repeatedly shows negativity at a meeting, you can ask him to take off his "black thinking hat", which tells him that he is too stubborn to open his mind to self-liberation. You can also ask him to wear a "yellow thinking hat" and directly turn him to a positive way of thinking.

You can use mixed hats as a module to handle different stages of the brainstorming process for a project, meeting, or decision.

1. Yellow / black / red: quickly evaluate an idea

2. White / green: come up with an idea

3. Black / Green: Improve existing ideas

4. Blue / Green: summarize and explain in detail some other practices

5. Blue / yellow: See if the thinking is helpful.
