The Asian love affair with Burgundy actually began in Japan. In the 1990s, Japanese wine lovers and restaurants began to embrace and love Burgundy. Why are more and more people choosing Burgundy? "Said Simon Tam, senior wine director for Christie's Asia. "People have really moved away from Bordeaux to Burgundy, which is red and white," he says. "The Asian market has learned all the basics of Bordeaux and is now exploring Burgundy, another famous wine region in France."
Due to the blizzard and frost in 2016, Burgundy's fruit production has been at its lowest level in recent years, and wine production has also been at a low level. At the same time, the demand for Burgundy wine is growing at an alarming rate.
