What is Pirate Funnel (AARRR Framework)?
The AARRR framework (also known as Pirate Funnel, or AAAR Model) allows you to get a deeper understanding of your customers and track their progress through the purchase process that is made up of 5 funnel layers you will track during your customer journey: Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral, and Revenue (AARRR). The framework got it’s name because the acronym AARRR makes you sound like a pirate. Each if the five layers of the AARRR funnel can be measured individually, providing several touchpoints for optimization and optimal scalability.
The Five Layers of the AARRR Model
AARRR represents five words, which correspond to the five stages in the product life cycle:
Acquisition: How do users discover (and come to) your product?
Activation: How is the user's first experience?
Retention: Will the user return to the product (reuse)?
Revenue: How does the product make money (through users)?
Refer: Are users willing to tell other users?
