According to the World Health Organization, about 40% of the world's population is affected by malaria. Every year, 350 million to 500 million people become infected with malaria and 1.1 million die from malaria. Malaria kills 3,000 children every day.
The incidence is mainly concentrated poor areas with relatively backward economy and inconvenient transportation. For about half of the world's population, malaria remains by far one of the most serious threats to public health.
