Ingredients
2 eggs
225 ml sugar
825 ml all-purpose flour
5 ml salt
2 ml nutmeg
30 ml melted butter
225 ml milk
hot oil for frying, 2 or 3 inches deep
confectioners sugar;
cinnamon sugar;
thin glaze to coat
Method
Beat eggs.
Gradually beat in sugar, keep on beating until mixture is thick and ribbony.
Sift the dry ingredients together.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, and stir it until moist.
Chill the dough until it is firm enough to handle.
Turn out 1/2 of dough onto a lightly floured board.
Wait for 15 minutes.
Roll the dough in 3/4 inch thick. Then cut it.
Wait for 15 minutes to form a light crust.
Fry 1.5 to 2 minutes on each side in hot oil.
Drain on absorbent toweling and coat the sugar/ glaze as desired.
