"From the Earth to the Moon," a 1865 science fiction novel by the French novelist Jules Verne, was one of the earliest concepts of the Moon landing.

Astronaut To the Moon

Landing on the moon means landing on the moon with a unmanned or direct manned spacecraft. So far, only the United States, the former Soviet Union and China have successfully sent a space probe to the moon, and only the United States has successfully sent astronauts to the moon.

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." --  Armstrong

Spacecraft Journeys in Early Stage

Among them, the United States carried out six manned missions to the moon during the Apollo program. The Soviet Union's Luna 2 was the first probe to land on the moon when it crashed into it in September 1959.

First Human On the Moon

In July 1969, Apollo 11 landed on the moon. Astronauts Neil Armstrong became the first humans in history to land on the moon.

  • Neil Alden Armstrong was an American astronaut and aeronautical engineer, and the first person to walk on the Moon. He was also a naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor.

The Second Last Time

The (second) last time the United States left the moon's surface was in December 1972, and it was the only country to have successfully carried out a mission to the moon so far, until recently when Chinese spacecraft landed on the moon in 2019.

2019 China chang'e-4 spacecraft

On January 3, 2019, China's Chang 'e-4 spacecraft landed on the other side of the moon for the first time. Before that, all soft landings had been on the front part of the moon.
