Independence Day Celebration Invitation

Independence Day Celebration Invitation

When is the real Independence Day: July 2 or July 4?

"July 2, 1776, will go down as one of the most memorable dates in American history. I believe that future generations will celebrate this great anniversary every year. It is a day of solemn celebration, with parades, shows, games, sports, the firing of guns, the tolling of bells, bonfires, and lighting, from one end of the continent to the other, now and forever."

John Adams, a statesman who helped write the American Declaration of Independence, wrote to his wife. But John Adams's prediction was two days early. In July 1776, after the Second Continental Congress voted for independence, five members, including Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, began to prepare the Declaration of Independence. Later, the Continental Congress revised and debated the text, and finally adopted it on July 4.

John Adams wrote it two days early, but most historians believe the Declaration of Independence was actually signed a month later, on August 2, 1776.

But whatever, July was August, and what's important is that since then, it marks the beginning of the United States as an independent nation. So, if you want to know more about America and Independence Day, here is a list of books that can help you.
