Harris was born in Oakland, California on October 20,1964.

1989 - Graduated in 1989

She graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1989

1990 - Early Career

Hired as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County, California.

1998 - Assistant District Attorney

In February 1998, recruited by Terence Hallinan.

2000 - City Attorney

Harris took a job at San Francisco City Hall, working for city attorney Louise Renne.

2000s - Violent Crimes

In the early 2000s, the San Francisco murder rate per capita outpaced the national average

2004 - Recidivism

In 2004, Harris recruited civil rights activist Lateefah Simon to create the San Francisco Reentry Division
