A study of developmental psychologists

Harris J. R, an American developmental psychologist, once caused a sensation (the result was included in the article human nature and human individuality). Through his research on some families with twins, consanguinity and adoptive relationship, he showed that:

  • 50% of the influence of a child's personality traits comes from genes, and

  • only 0-10% of the influence comes from family and living environment,

  • The other 40% - 50% comes from the influence of peers!

Therefore, it is not so much that a school has an impact on a child's future personality traits, but rather because the students in the school have an overwhelming influence.
