What is impressionism?

It was an art movement and painting style launched in France in the 1860s. The name of Impressionism originated from Monet's painting impression sunrise in 1874, which was attacked by the academic school and ridiculed by the critic Louis Leroy as Impressionism.

Impressionist painting is an epoch-making art school in the history of western painting. It reached its peak in the 1870s and 1980s. Its influence spread throughout Europe and gradually spread around the world, but in France has achieved the most brilliant artistic achievements. From the second half of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, a large number of impressionist artists emerged in France. They have produced a number of classics that are still familiar today, such as Manet's Luncheon on the Grass, Monet's Impression Sunrise, Van Gogh's Sunflowers, and so on.
