Theodore Roosevelt Jr.

(October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919)

He was an American statesman, politician, conservationist, naturalist, historian and author. As the 25th Vice President and 26th President of the United States. He was 42 years old when he succeeded to the presidency, making him as the youngest president in U.S. history. He devoted his life to the welfare of the people. Theodore Roosevelt is the only 20th century president among the four presidential statues on Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

Roosevelt grew up frail and not a healthy child; he suffered from debilitating asthma, but eventually overcame some of his health problems by embracing a hard lifestyle.

We can also see in this his efforts to overcome his difficulties. It was his determination and effort to overcome his health problems, as well as his belief that he could overcome his illness, that enabled him to persevere and overcome his difficulties. If he did not believe in himself that he can defeat the illness and take no actions, he can never be healthier.

Believe in yourself

Self-confidence is important to us. When we accept ourselves and then understand our strengths and weaknesses, we can be confident enough in doing different things.

With enough self-confidence, we will have more motivation to achieve our goals. Even though we may not be able to take on the expected workload, we should do our best and try to push our limits and not regret after putting in the effort for it. First but most importantly, we must believe that we can. We can never get the best results and success if we have given up before we start.

Why we are then halfway there ?

When we set a goal, the first thing we need to consider is "Is this goal achievable?" If we already believe that we can never reach our goal, then we naturally won't want to work hard for it. Instead, we can only work further toward that goal if we believe we can do it.

How to build self-confidence

1 - Do not always compare with others

Each person is unique and has his or her own strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, it is pointless for us to constantly compare ourselves with others and then lose our confidence and have pressure. Learning from others' strengths can help us have progress, but unlimited comparisons can only bring us stress.

2 - Maintain self body health

The root of everything is to have a healthy body, only then we are more likely to have positive thoughts and strong body, and then have the spirit and action to pursue our own goals. Also, with healthy body, we can have higher self-confidence and self-esteem to seek what we want.

3 - Face our fear

When we find challenges and become fearful of them, we usually lose confidence. In this case, we can face them and figure out how to solve them. Once we make progress and find that we can overcome the challenges, we will have confidence in ourselves.
