Average Rating Calculator

This is an online average rating calculator that calculates an average rating based on the number of 1 – 5 ratings.

How does the calculator work?

The average rating calculator takes a number of votes for each rating category (1 star, 2 stars, 3 stars, 4 stars, 5 stars) and calculates the weighted average. Here is an example:

When there are 4 votes for 5-star and 3 votes for 2 star, the weight for 5-star and 2-star are 4 * 5 = 20 and 3 * 2 = 6, respectively. The average is: (20 + 6) / 7 = 3.71, where (20 + 6) is the weighted total and 7 is the total number of votes.

How to use the average rating calculator?

To find the average rating of a 5-star rating mechanism:

  1. Enter the number of votes for each of the rating categories.
  2. The result is calculated and presented automatically. You can see also the total votes below the average.
