At the heart of the 'Maddie is Online' project is the creation of online video cartoon stories with real voice-overs, addressing everyday life experiences of online connectivity and empowering young people with information and media literacy skills that help them to critically explore challenging phenomena (e.g., online bullying, managing online information, copyright and ownership, privacy and security, online reputation and the growing phenomenon of AI). The project offers not only accessible, engaging and fun cartoon stories, but also digital lesson plans and learning activities that can be followed in school or used at home. The work has been co-created with young people.

This work is aimed for school teachers, school and public librarians, youth workers and parents, as well as anyone who engages with young people and wishes to focus on the digital citizenship skills required to navigate safely, effectively and ethically the online environment. The resources we create can be incorporated into different subjects at school and we engage directly with children’s own experiences of online connectivity.
