NASA stands for The National Aeronautics and Space Administration. NASA is an agency of the United States government responsible for science and technology related to air and space. The space age began with the launch of Sputnik in 1957. NASA administrators are nominated by the President and confirmed by a Senate vote.

• Earth is the fifth largest of the planets in the solar system, one of four terrestrial planets, (Mercury, Venus, and Mars being the others) that is rocky at the surface. 

• For many years, it was thought that Earth was the only planet in our solar system that had liquid water. Recently, NASA released the strongest evidence yet that intermittent water flows on Mars too!

• Mars is a cold desert world, and is the fourth planet from the sun.
