Risks of Excessive Drinking
There may be some health benefits of drinking alcohol, but drinking too much can raise health risks. Prolonged excessive drinking can lead to chronic diseases and other serious problems, including high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, liver disease and digestive disorders. A recent analysis of studies found that the optimal daily intake is one drink (150ml) for women and two drinks (300ml) for men.
For wine, a drink is defined as 5 fluid ounces at 12% alcohol by volume.
