The Story of Independent Day

As you probably know, North America was originally the land of the Native Americans and other indigenous peoples. But later, the great explorer, Christopher Columbus, discovered the New World around 1492, and thus began the history of colonization in North America

In the early 17th century, European countries, mainly England, began to immigrate to North America. The first settlers in North America were mainly landless farmers, hard workers, and persecuted Christians. They were people who abandoned the past and dreamed of rebuilding a new life in America.

From 1607 to 1733, the British colonists successively established 13 colonies on the east coast of North America (the Atlantic coast).

In the 1760s, in order to recover from the war as soon as possible, the British government changed its previous laissez-faire approach to North America and began to implement high-pressure policies and increase taxes. North American immigrants who have finally lived a good life through their own struggles certainly refuse and the popular resistance was deepening.

On March 5, 1770, the citizens of Boston and the British garrison clashed, the British garrison shot at the civilians, the historic Boston Massacres. It led to people in North America saying, "We want independence!

So on April 19, 1775, the first war of independence was fought in Philadelphia.

Finally, on July 2, 1776, the United States Congress met in Philadelphia. By a show of hands, it voted without dissenting to separate the 13 colonies from the British government and form the United States of America. After the debate, Congress changed the words of the Declaration of Independence, and the final version was issued on July 4.
